15. Video Story Plan: Brief Synopsis
My chosen track has lots of potential for different storylines and narratives. My video will surround the idea of sexuality and people struggling with relationships with stereotypical heteronormative views and how that can affect an insider's view of the relationship itself.
In my music video, I will include different types of representation such as gender and sexuality and I will communicate these representations through my narrative: person one falls in love with person two but a third party intervenes in the growth and intimateness of their relationship causing person one to end up coping with that loss and revealing stereotypes throughout their grieving.
In my video, I will also incorporate the idea of the recording process of the song itself. For example, the video begins with the artist (person one) in the studio, shot with faint typical studio noises and voices before the track begins to play. I feel as though this gives a more personal sense to the video as it shows that this is sung by the artist, and it is their own emotions conveyed throughout the lyrics in the song. The video will also end with a studio shot, indicating the conclusion of the video.
There is a shot of my artist walking on the beach which is a recurring visual throughout the video. This will consist of rather dull and cold colours as it is representing them feeling blue, literally. Person one will be walking towards the camera, mid-shot, whilst the camera is moving back at the same pace as person one.
The video will include contrasting shots, for example, person one is in bed and person two is in and out of these different shots showing the progression of the distance between the pair.
I will also integrate the visual of person one sitting outside at night on a pavement or patio with lights facing them directly, whilst they lipsync. This juxtaposition is stemming from the idea that the spotlight has been taken away from them in the relationship aspect of their life and their love is no longer received as romantic, only platonic.
