I have chosen to use Wix to create my website as it is easily accessible and allows me to have creative freedom which is very useful for aesthetic purposes.

29. Band Website Research

Phoebe Bridgers On Phoebe Bridger's website, there is a homepage with tour dates and tickets listed below an unconventional artist's image as it is art but not of Phoebe herself. When the mouse hovers over the image, the screen inverts colours: the black turns white and vice versa. There is also a navigation panel to her shop, contact info and social media. Lyrics of Phoebe's are printed over the screen in red in a variety of fonts when you click a navigation button below the bar: The use of typography here is significant as it promotes her music and shows a little insight into her music before listening.  The logos and symbols used on this website create synergy with the merchandise through the shop and with the album cover as skeletons are seen in many different places.   Wolf Alice On Wolf Alice's website, immediate attention is drawn to the promotion of their music video, in the placement of the conventional artist's image. If you scroll down on the page there a...

24. Evidence of Production

Image
Evidence of Production I began my production by transferring all of the footage from my camera to my computer. I created folders to keep all of the footage safe alongside having them stored in my computer's camera roll. I created a folder for day one filming, day two filming and one to gather production evidence in. I gathered as much footage as possible during filming days to ensure that I would not need any reshoots. During filming, certain scenes took a longer time than expected, however, this gave me extra shots which I found very helpful in the editing process as I was able to pick and choose exactly how I wanted the final video to look. Once I had all of my footage gathered, I then began a first attempt to edit the first few scenes of my video. First, I needed to add my chosen track so I converted the song to an MP3 track and was then able to add it as the software did not allow tracks from my computer directly or from streaming services.  After I added the track, I organised...

21. The Cast

Image
The Cast I have cast Katie as my artist as she is not shy, therefore will be able to take direction very well and is very easy to work with. Katie is also very creative and is interested in the process of filming. I have chosen Maisie as Katie's love interest. Maisie is a very good actress with experience, therefore will convey a convincing performance.  I have cast Alex as Maisie's love interest/distraction. Alex is interested in this creative process and is enthusiastic about the technicalities of the action.

18. Final Statement of Intent

The concept of my video surrounds three people in a love triangle. I intend to convey the impacts of teen romance on mental health and behaviours as it is a prevalent topic in today’s society. To make it relate to the genre of anthemic, I plan to infer heavy emotions through my main character by using movement and dance style to aid the communication of their thoughts. I will also use high-angled shots to exhibit this as it could show detachment from the character and the viewer, contrasting mid-shots with a direct gaze. I will design the video to attract an aspirational middle-market audience (ages 16-25) through relatable topics such as young love, but also the impact it can have on youth mental health. The use of representation stems from the stereotypical binary of straight relationships and how it is seen as the norm, it also shows how the person from the viewpoint of the non-straight binary is the one that is not seen nor recognised which is relatable and engaging.  The core ...

17. Logo and Title Placement

I plan to place my artist's logo and the track's title at the beginning of the video with a black background. Diegetic sound will be heard, leading into the first scene, for the audience to see where the sound is coming from as it is a studio shot.

16. My Five Main Ideas and Story Boards

1. The Studio A visual of the recording process of the song itself. The video will begin with the artist (person one) in the studio with typical studio sounds in the background before the track begins to play. 2. The Beach Next, there is a shot of person one walking on the beach which is a reoccurring visual throughout the video in which the intensity of their emotions increases. This will include movement to convey that idea. 3. The Bedroom There will be a 'bedroom shot' of person one and person two lying in a bed together whilst person one is lipsyncing. This is a repeating visual throughout the video, however, the positioning of the characters changes parallel to the narrative depending on whether or not the relationship is steady or if it is rocky. For example, person one and person two will be facing each other in one scene, dissimilar to another scene when person one is facing the camera and person two is turned away from person one on their phone which is the first visua...

15. Video Story Plan: Brief Synopsis

My chosen track has lots of potential for different storylines and narratives. My video will surround the idea of sexuality and people struggling with relationships with stereotypical heteronormative views and how that can affect an insider's view of the relationship itself. In my music video, I will include different types of representation such as gender and sexuality and I will communicate these representations through my narrative: person one falls in love with person two but a third party intervenes in the growth and intimateness of their relationship causing person one to end up coping with that loss and revealing stereotypes throughout their grieving.  In my video, I will also incorporate the idea of the recording process of the song itself. For example, the video begins with the artist (person one) in the studio, shot with faint typical studio noises and voices before the track begins to play. I feel as though this gives a more personal sense to the video as it shows t...
